Meet the people behind Lerwick 28
Lerwick 28 is being led by Shetland Arts on behalf of the Shetland Partnership – but this isn’t a bid that belongs to one organisation.
It’s being shaped by people from across Shetland: artists and creatives, young people, businesses, community groups, partners and everyone who takes the time to share their views.
Behind the scenes, three groups are working together to develop the bid.
Our Liaison Forum connects the bid team with communities and different parts of our community. Our liaisons bring local perspectives, ideas and expertise into the process and share opportunities and information back out into their communities.
Our Programme Board provides strategic direction, bringing together partners from culture, education, business, tourism, heritage, the environment and beyond. They provide support, oversight and challenge as the bid develops.
Our Bid Delivery Group is doing the day-to-day work of developing the bid, bringing together expertise across creative development, production, communications, finance, community, youth and the environment.
But these groups are only part of the picture.
The wider community has a crucial role to play in shaping what Lerwick 28 could become. That’s why we’re asking people to complete our survey, share their ideas and get involved in the opportunities that emerge.
The more voices that shape the bid, the stronger it will be.
Lerwick 28 is an opportunity to put Lerwick on a bigger stage, but with benefits and lasting cultural change for people across Shetland.
